There are Four main components to the Challenge.  Please look through the program book and answer the following questions

Section 1 - The Discovery Challenges

Guides must complete all Challenges in the Discovery section of the book in order to complete the Lady Baden-Powell Award. Remember that they are not required, however, to complete all sections of the Encountering and Exploring levels (this is especially good for girls who started Guides at the Exploring ot Discoverying level to complete the award if they are up for the challenge).

1 - What specific Discovery Level challenges have you found difficult to complete in your unit in the past.  What challenges do you see having difficultly getting to or completing this year?



2 - In what kind of situation do you find that your Discovery Level Guides learn the most or get the most out of a project?



3 - How do your Discovery Level Guides prefer to present challenges (ie - leading games, making speeches, doing write ups, making posters, group discussion, small group work, etc.)?

Section 2 - Interest Badges

Discovery Guides completing the Lady Baden-Powell Challenge must have earned ten badges in thier three (or less) year in Guides.  In the program book the badges are separated into the four Pathways.  Guides must complete two from each section and then an additional two of their choosing.

2 - Do you have any Discovery Level Guides who will be interested in attending the event who did not start Guides at the Encountering Level?  How many?  When did they start Guides?



3 - Do any of the Girls spoke of above have gaps in their badge requirement?  In what Pathway?

Section 3 - Service

Discovery Level Guides working on their Lady Baden-Powell Award must participate in a Service Project in their Discovery Year.

1 - Will your unit participate in a Service project between September 2003 and June 2004?



2 - Do you feel we should do a small service project during the event?  Do you have any ideas what we could do that would be both cost efficient and meaningful?



Section 4 - My Guiding Principles

Guides completing their Lady Baden-Powell Award must complete these six challenges and only in their Discovery year.  The beauty of these challenges is that they truly push the Guides to think about what Guiding means to them and what Guiding has down for them.

These Challenges will be the core focus of the Lady-Baden Powell Event.  Though these will be pre-event challenges to ensure that some of these have been started prior to the weekend.

1 - Have you shown your Guides how to fill out the Camp Record in their Guide Program book?

2 - Have you encouraged your Guides to start a collection of Guiding mementos?

3 - Are their sections of My Guiding Principles that you have already completed with your Discovery Level Guides?
